Q: Any fresh colors I should look for this fall?
A: If you're like most women, you've been committed to black and brown, for well, forever. But there are two new neutrals on the scene that will be making a play for the heart of your closet: navy and gray. These colors are taking center stage in anything-but-basic pieces like ruffled tanks and outfit-making sweaters. It's a good thing they go with everything, 'cause—trust us—you'll want to wear them with everything. More adventurous dressers will want to test out some of the seriously bold neon shades that were so popular on the runway. Just a little dab will do!

Q: What about a new date look?
A: If you're talking something casual like drinks and a movie with that hot new guy, here's when you make what you already own work for you. Try any of the cute tops you've already snapped up for your weekend wardrobe with a pair of sleek dark jeans and sexy heels and—ta-da!—you'll look sweet and mega-hot. If you're thinking dressy, the key thing to remember for fall is that the shoulder is an erogenous zone. Look for flirty one-shoulder and strapless ruffled styles. Lastly, don't write off your fave LBD: No matter how old it is, it can still be totally now, and the best part is, you don't have to buy a whole new wardrobe to go with it.

How should I accessorize now?Q: How should I accessorize now?
A: When it comes to accessorizing, the best advice to follow is to keep it personal. This is your opportunity to put a unique stamp on whatever you're wearing. It's also a quick way to update your entire look without breaking the bank. If you love shoes, why not try the season's cool menswear-inspired lace-up styles? They come with flat or chunky heels, and look right with everything from work trousers to jeans on the weekend. Belts are another super-easy add-on, and—bonus—they never go out of style. You can cinch up a sweater, a dress, anything, and experiment with different-width belts depending on your body type and individual taste (wide and stretchy are especially fun, as are the opposite, feminine and narrow styles). Also make sure you've got one go-everywhere bag that's big enough to fit what you need for day and night, plus a smaller, fancier style for the occasional big night out. If you're feeling experimental, purple is fall's hottest handbag hue. Finally, if you like jewelry, statement pieces are a good way to go. Think big, whether it's a necklace, a chunky cuff or dangly earrings—just keep in mind, not all at once!
Q: How do I pull off layers without looking bulky?
A: Have you recently gained five pounds—of material? Yep, the biggest mistake you can make with layering is to throw on too many or too-heavy pieces. Here's how to get it right: First, you're not an onion, so please, no more than three layers. Second, wear sleek pieces under more substantial stuff, never the other way around, or you'll look stuffed into your clothes. (Try a boyfriend jacket over a lightweight sweater, or a cozy oversize cardigan over a tailored button-up.) Third, mix up the lengths of your pieces—if they all end in one spot, you'll look padded right there. Varying hemlines keep things more interesting. And the last rule: Go slim on bottom; nothing adds bulk like voluminous pants under a bunch of clothes.
